A Message from the HeadTeacher of Wimbledon Park First School
On Saturday 13th July people came to support the Community Fair in the grounds of the Woodman on Durnsford Road in many different ways and the day was a success.
A few weeks later we were delighted at Wimbledon Park First School, when a giant cheque for £1,100 arrived. It was handed over to our Member of Parliament, Roger Casale, by Mr Prescott the manager of the 'Woodman', to be presented to the school.
The money will be used to purchase another computer for the school's new 'Digital Learning Centre'. We are planning to share our new D.L.C. with the local community as well as with pupils and staff of the school.
An opportunity to 'have a go' at word processing skills is currently on offer to any local residents who would like to come and share their experiences of 'playground games' with us.
Volunteers could work alongside the children and type up their 'playground memories', which could then be included in our 'Ideas for Playtime' book. ( if you are interested please give me a call on the number below.)
We all have something that we can share in order to help one another - a smile, an encouraging word, experience and ideas. These were all in evidence at the W.P. ' Community Fair'
On behalf of the school, I would like to say thank you to everyone involved for the day and for the resulting generous donation.
Special thanks must go to Mr Prescott who provided and organised the venue for the Community Fair, at the 'Woodman' and worked so hard alongside members of the Residents' Association to achieve its success.
Finally thank you to you our local community, for the generosity of spirit that supported and enabled our first Community fair to be such a success.
