We welcome some new arrivals. The proprietors of the Little Shop, on Melrose Avenue, now offer re-upholstery, wrought iron work and restored antique furniture and can cater for the individual wishes of clients. Prices are very competitive, particularly as purchasers will be buying unique, one-off items, not factory made copies.
Next to Wimbledon Park Underground Station is the Tennis Gallery. With a treasure trove of new tennis-related items and memorabilia. Browsing through this extensive collection is a delight and there's something to suit every pocket. Well worth the visit as you start Christmas shopping.
In our own millennium wish list, a reader asks for more restaurants and catering. This wish is partly met by the arrival of The Dragon King, on Arthur Road. Takeaway Chinese food is prepared to order, using fresh and exotic ingredients. The menu is varied and often changed, the prices remain low and quality uniformly high.
The new owners of the Post Office are settling in well and are keeping up high standards of service, despite the problems of refurbishment in the shop itself.
The Co-op has undergone a facelift in order to extend its range prior to attracting the Christmas rush and and is carrying several new lines.
Jackie & Nick, the award winning owners of "The Curtain Lady", are advertising another business of theirs, a bed & breakfast establishment. They have run this for several years and it is usually full, so advance booking is recommended. Rooms have been designed, furnished and decorated by Jackie & Nick and some were the main feature recently in a Home Decorators magazine. So, not far from here, you or your guests can enjoy sumptuous surroundings, delicious food and personal attention.
We wish all the above well and hope that residents will keep these and all local services buoyant by supporting them whenever and wherever possible.
