From the Chair

1999 has been the Year of the Library (see article on pages 33 & 34 ) which has taken up most of our time.We are still hanging in by a thread and  hope there will be more cheerful library news in the next Newsletter.

Right now we are looking forward to the Christmas holidays and the MILLENNIUM. Cynics may feel that one New Year is much like another, but for those who are going for gold we hope you have splendid  parties, be they in Trafalgar Square, under the Dome, stuck on the Big Wheel or just in the back garden.

Your Committee decided to miss out on the cold weather and our party will be in the summer, when we shall have a weekend of events celebrating life in Wimbledon Park. Watch out for details in the Easter Newsletter and the Notice Boards.

Wimbledon Park is losing two good friends this year. John Uden, a former Chairman of the Committee is returning to New Zealand and Father Doetsch has moved to another parish. Both contributed enormously to our community. We welcome Father Naughton, Father Deutsch's successor, at Christ the King to Wimbledon Park and wish him a long and happy stay.

With best wishes from the Committee for happy holidays and a prosperous and peaceful New Year.
