The new Headteacher - Dee Russell is continuing and developing the good work that has been done. As the school moves into full Primary status Dee Russell is sharing her own considerable expertise and experience as a very successful Primary Headteacher. She and the school community is building on what Lesley Harcourt, her predecessors and I have passed to her.
The building is changing, new classrooms and offices are being created to accommodate the growing numbers as the school expands. The children join the school at 3+ and they can now remain until they are 11 years old. In the old days there was no Nursery, the children started at 5 and left at 11.
The Governors - WPPS has always enjoyed the voluntary services of a wide range of local citizens and parents on its Governing Body. The Governors bring a wide range of expertise and skills to a school - solicitors, journalists, nurses, accountants, councillors (Margaret McDonough and Theresa May two very prominent ladies in politics today were members of the WPPS Governing body in the past). The Governors are people with a genuine interest in Education, social consciences and very generous spirits.
In my retirement I miss the people - the children, the staff, the whole community. But I know that Wimbledon Park Primary School is and always has been an excellent place for children to learn. I am very proud to have played a part in the school's development. I would like to thank the Wimbledon Park Community for the generous support it has given to its local school over the years. Thank you also for the cards, presents and good wishes I received on my retirement.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time as Headteacher at WPPS. It was a privilege and the highlight of my career. My successor, Dee Russell, as was my predecessor Lesley Harcourt is a very special person. Under her leadership and with the support of the parents, the staff, the governors, the local community, the LEA, the local MP and many families and friends from the past, WPPS will continue to develop and achieve and it will remain one of our very best Primary Schools.
A very happy Christmas to all of you. June Pack
