The AGM
We had a very good turnout at the AGM, which was a lively affair, with lots of questions from residents providing a wide-ranging discussion on various topics. I hope that those of you who attended thought it was worthwhile and enjoyed the 'drinks and nibbles' afterwards. I know the committee enjoyed meeting a lot of new faces. I am delighted that as a result we have two new committee members and another five general helpers some of whom have agreed to be street representatives, which is extremely encouraging. At the meeting some residents complained about the absence of a Summer Newsletter. I explained at the time what the problem was but I would like make sure all those who did not attend the meeting should be informed as well.
Newsletter
The newsletter has been self - funding for many years with the cost of printing being met by income received from advertisers. This is, really, the only practical way. You will appreciate that a great deal of work is involved in compiling the newsletter from gathering the articles and advertising to setting it out and supervising the printing and delivery. We print 2000 copies at a cost of around £1000 and deliver to every household in the area covered by the Association, including to those who are not paid up members of the Association. We believe this is a valuable service to the community and also, given the wide circulation, positively encourages our advertisers for whose support we are dependent and extremely grateful. To fully fund the newsletter without recourse to advertising would require a significant increase in subscriptions.
