REPORT ON RESIDENTS PARKING SCHEME FROM ED TURNER, PRINCIPAL ENGINEER, TRAFFIC AND PARKING. LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON.
This information is from the Public meeting held in February.
The Chairman welcomed those residents who were attending the meeting and thanked Ed Turner for giving up his own time to come and talk to us.
Ed Turner then took the meeting through the latest developments.
The main points were:
According to the current timetable the scheme will probably be implemented in July and enforcement will be in August. He emphasised that these dates could change depending on the performance of other work in progress.
The scheme would effectively include the area between Leopold Road to the west of the railway tracks and Stroud Road to the East.
The standard booklet which the Council issues to residents for such schemes was in the process of being revised and would be republished soon. It should be sent out with the timetable in May.
As previously indicated, parking on cross-overs would be permitted in Vineyard Hill Road and Dora Road. Mr Turner emphasised that this was an experiment but it was something that had already been successfully implemented in Sutton and Ealing. However he did emphasise that overall success of the idea relied on good neighbourliness.

Concern was expressed about the scheme not operating on Saturdays as there was still considerable pressure from shoppers and football fans (going to Stamford Bridge).
