Community Policing in Wimbledon Park

Ringmaster! - keeping you informed & involved in local policing issues.

This is a computerised messaging service provided free by your local Police. The Ringmaster system will record a spoken message; E-mail or fax from us & it will then transmit the message to people who have agreed to participate in the scheme. The message will normally be of an urgent nature; for instance details of a burglary in your area including the description of those believed to be involved if available. To register please contact me on 07659-136199.

Help at the touch of a button . Mascot is Merton's Community Alarm Scheme and is available to anyone living within the borough who may feel alone, isolated or vulnerable. The alarm stays with you all the time, normally on a cord around your neck. Once the button is pushed a signal is sent to a 24-hour control centre who can summon assistance immediately. If you want more information or know of anyone who might benefit from the scheme, please contact myself on the number below or the Mascot Alarm Control Centre on 020 8540 0355

Burglary & Motor Vehicle Crime Some good news, Durnsford Ward had the lowest residential burglary rate in Wimbledon last year! However it should be noted that in the most recent burglaries entry has been gained by forcing ground floor front windows, mainly where the garden hedge provides cover for the burglar, so keep those hedges trimmed down! Car crime is more prevalent, ranging from minor damage to theft of cars. Minimise your chances of becoming a victim by taking simple crime prevention measures including removing fascias off radio/cassette players where applicable, removing valuables from your car whilst unattended & immobilising it when parked. For further advice contact the Wimbledon Crime reduction Officer Tel: 8649-3174.

Neighbourhood Watch Your co-ordinators are currently in the process of re-establishing & where applicable recruiting street reps for neighbourhood watch. For the local scheme to be effective there needs to be participation by the local community, so be supportive, display the stickers & complete & return the 'Ringmaster' forms as you receive them from your street reps. If you would like to be involved at whatever level, please contact me, the demand on your time is as much or as little as you can manage.
