Wimbledon Park Library

As usual we have been very busy at the library with many activities and promotions which included "Tell  - a - Story" week. Councillor Joyce Paton contributed by reading stories to a local playgroup.

We also had an "Alternative Health" event held in the Christ the King Hall. Joan Hewill organised seven therapists to attend. There was a Herbalist, a homeopathic practitioner, an allergy tester, an acupuncturist,, a reflexologist, Tai-Chi- & Yoga teachers. The people who attended found it interesting and informative. We hope to hold similar events in the future. We would like to thank Father Doetsch for allowing us use of the hall and his general support.

At the beginning of July, we had a "Library User Survey" ( This being part of Merton Library Review ) The response to this survey was very good, especially as there were six pages to be completed in the library.

As for future events, our yearly "Summer Reading" competition, starting on the 25th July, promises to be even better than previous years, with new authors and many new books.

There are lots more categories to choose from, including sport, classics, poetry and fairy tales. As with all competitions, there are prizes, so why not join in & you might win a prize.

We are organising two craft sessions : one on Tuesday 4th August and the other on Tuesday 25th August. Tickets are limited and cost only 50p each.

The last date to note is Saturday 12th September when we are holding a "Book Sale" ( weather permitting ) There will be a lot of interesting books for sale. Do come along for a bargain.

Just a reminder that we don't just loan books but also stock reference material including local and London events.

To advertise on our notice board costs 55 pence a week or £ 1.50 a month.
