Shortly : The Coombettes, official Cheerleaders to The Kingstonian Football Club, treated the crowds to an enthusiastic display.

Later the country dancers from Wimbledon Park First School showed us just how much practice these young children had put in learning their dance routines.

Mr Fumble, the magician arrived, within moments the stage was surrounded by most of the smaller children at the fair. As he struggled to find his red nose, the area around the stage quickly started to sound like a children's pantomime with loud cries of " Oh no you didn't", coming from dozens of excited children.

The jazz band this year was The Elastic Band.

Raffle tickets had been on sale for some weeks before the fair, with numerous prizes. The main prizes were a video recorder, television, mini hi fi, mountain bike and play-station. The smaller prizes ranged from manicures to meals and haircuts to wine.

A competition was held amongst the children at Wimbledon Park First School to design posters for the fair. The winning entries in this competition were the posters displayed in the local shops advertising the fair. We acknowledge the support of these shops in promoting this event.

We thank the many sponsors of the fair who donated the prizes. Thanks must also go to the organising Committee, Clive Prescott, Peter Ducker, Sandra Shore, Ceri Sheeran and Clive Smith. We must also thank the small army of  people who turned up on the day to help set-up and man stalls, lent massive amounts of equipment such as tables, loud hailers, public address systems and all the other equipment, without which this important day in the community's calendar could not take place. Copies of the photographs taken may be ordered from the Woodman Pub. Profits from the sale of these will also be donated to the fair.

Most of all we must thank you, the residents of Wimbledon Park, for turning up to support us.

This year the fair raised funds for Wimbledon Park First School and The League of Friends at our local hospital St George's of Tooting. The total sum known to have been raised so far is £2,350, which had not been finalised when this Newsletter went to press.
