From The Chairman

The Association has been very busy over the last few months.

The Residents' Parking Schemes have aroused immense interest. The public meeting was very well attended and the council official explained the scheme in some detail. The full consultation exercise will take place in the autumn and if agreed by a majority, the scheme may be rolled out in spring of next year. We will closely monitor the process.

The Green Sub-committee has once again organised the summer garden competition. I would like to congratulate the winners of every group and also the judges for giving up their time.

Our annual Village Fair was very successful and Clive Prescott (Woodman Pub) and his team had worked very hard. The support from the residents and friends raised over two thousand pounds, which will go to good local beneficiaries. This was the second year that this event has taken place and there is no doubt that it will become an annual event that all the community will participate in.

Our local councillors are always very helpful and closely involved with the work we do. I would like to congratulate Cllr Joyce Paton on being elected as Deputy Mayor and also to welcome the two new councillors, Mark Thompson and Christopher Housden.

Our social outing to Boulogne and Chelsea Physic Garden organised by Liz Baker were great fun for those who went. Liz has been very successful in the various activities that she has organised with such enthusiasm as social secretary. Douglas Dallimer and the "Cresidents" organised an enjoyable Quiz night to raise some money towards the Christmas lights. The food, wine and company were excellent and the questions did take gave a good test to the old brain. Well done to them all!!

This year's AGM is set for Tuesday 29th September. I will stand down from chairmanship and that really means that this is the last opportunity I have to write in this column. I have thoroughly enjoyed being Chair for "the best residents association" in London. We have a unique community spirit in Wimbledon Park and it is here to stay.

I take this opportunity to thank all the committee members for their support and the editorial team of this newsletter for all the hard work they put in.

I hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday and thank you all for your support for the Association.
