QUIZ NIGHT MAY 12th 2000
The hall was filled to capacity for this Quiz Night, the first to be organized by the Committee. Under the firm hand of Paresh Modasia a team of helpers was whipped into line to organize this successful event.
Guided by our excellent Master of Ceremonies, Keith Macdonald, eight teams of competitors fought to gain the coveted prizes. And if, as it turned out, some of us didn't know as much as we thought we did, we could console ourselves with the happy anticipation of supper to come.
This was a triumph in itself. Delectable starters and puddings were brought along by those attending, but the star turn was the curry made by Kish Modasia. There seemed to be enough for five thousand. We ate it all.
Thanks, as always, go to some local businesses for their support. Mike Rooke of W.A. Gardner & Son supplied a huge, succulent ham and an asparagus garnish. Marco of Café du Parc produced enormous platters of salads with a Mediterranean flavour. The Salon, the Athur Road Hairdresser, gave a most generous voucher for our raffle.
Our thanks are due also to all who helped with the organization, catering, raffle and all the myriad tasks associated with putting on this event. We hope to repeat it later.
