Invitation to submit articles and web site development
Residents are welcome to submit items to the editors for inclusion in the association's newsletters. Indeed we positively welcome contributions from our readers. The newsletter is after all put together from items we receive. Some of these are very regular contributors with an article in every newsletter. At times we end up writing articles to fill vacant space. We could not always guarantee to use any article submitted, but it would make things much easier for the editors if we had what would effectively be a pool of articles from which we could select things to publish. We would aim to give preference to articles held over from a previous publication, when choosing articles for future publications.
As the association is non political, we could not accept any article with a political tone. Articles about local subjects and of local interest are especially welcome. We could not accept articles either which are basically advertisements for the writers business. Nor would we publish letters or articles sent anonymously. We will of course refrain from publishing your name & address if requested to do so.
Contributions received electronically are far easier to work with. They can be sent to the editors on disk (please advise if you want the disk back) or by e-mail to the association web site mail@wimbledonpark.com or directly to the newsletter production editor, Ceri Sheeran, on his own e-mail address ceri.sheeran@virgin.net Articles sent by e-mail can either be sent as file attachments, preferably as MS Word documents up to Word 2000 or MS Publisher pages or in any normal text format for PC's or as text within the contents of the e-mail as this can be easier.
All disks and files are checked for virus's on receipt. We would however have to return any "infected" disk to the sender unused, with a note advising that the disk could not be used as there was a computer virus on it. If you submit an article on disk or by e-mail, we would appreciate a printed copy of the article so that we can ensure that the formatting of the article is retained.
Assistance in the development of the Association web site would be gratefully received. There must be younger residents doing computing courses at school and college. If they would like to help with the development of a web site, then please contact us. www.wimbledonpark.com
